Remembering George Carlin

The first video below has George speaking of death. He seems more interested in working out a few demons than in humoring his audience which is, after all, classic Carlin.

If you'd like to see George at his most famous, view the seven dirty words--just don't do it at work. It doesn't seem as edgy or scandalous as it once did, but that's because George broke the barrier and pop culture followed. Nowadays, half the words on his list are in an average South Park episode.

While it may not be Carlin at his funniest, I'll always have a special place in my heart for his role in "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure." Enjoy this brief, hysterically-dated short film about the flick.

"I'm not left handed either"

The sound and video could be better, but please enjoy one of my favorite scenes from one of my favorite movies: The first sword fight from "The Princess Bride."

I Can Spell Numnut!

Of course, I'd have no idea how to spell numnah, but why would I need to?

Ewok Gospel Song

"Let's not forget about the big-hearted friends who were only one-meter tall. I'm talking 'bout the Ewoks..."

Look for the cameo from a Star Wars face at the 1:30 mark.

The Daily Show: Rob Riggle on Bush's Iraq Strategy

Why is The Daily Show always at its funniest when it's saddest?

If ABC Moderated the Lincoln-Douglas Debates

It's been widely agreed ABC ran the worst presidential debate in memory this past week. Rather than concentrating on real issues, such as Iraq or the economy, Charlie Gibson and (former Clinton advisor) George Stephanopoulos instead focused on lapel lins, the pastor scandal (which came and went weeks ago), and other gossipy topics. It was sham.

Rather than rant about what media or presidential politics has become, I'll instead point you to a very funny and sad post on Obsidian Wings, which imagines an ABC-moderated Lincoln-Douglas Debate in 1858.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Do you love America this much (extending fingers), this much
(extending hands slightly), or thiiiiiis much (extending hands
broadly)?
LINCOLN: I think we covered this…
GIBSON: If I may
interrupt…
LINCOLN: Please.
GIBSON: I noticed, Mr. Lincoln, that your
American flag pin was upside down…
LINCOLN: Yes, the wind caught it. Now, as
I was saying...
GIBSON: We get questions about this all the time over at
Powerline and on Hannity’s talk show. Mr. Douglas has said this is a major
vulnerability for you in the fall. So I’ll ask again – do you love America?

Sexual Harassment PSA

Sexual Harassment is no laughing matter... except to Funny or Die and Hayden Panettiere. "Sexual Harassment is wrong, even if it makes you feel good."

Ten Things I Hate About Commandments

With Charleston's passing, I am not sure of the fate of this upcoming movie. (Rated PG for one bad word--don't use the speakers at work.)

Every Sperm is Sacred

The incomparable "Every Sperm is Sacred" scene from Monty Python's Meaning of Live is quintessential Python: Edgy, funny, sacrilegious, insightful, very British, and delightfully over the top.

This one may offend a few people, but if you haven't seen it and have 10 minutes for what some consider one of the funniest scenes in movie history, here you go. (This should be considered NSFW, in case that wasn't evident.)

Even if you're not a basketball fan, you'll get a smile from the story of Speedo man, Coach K, and a secret weapon that helped Duke University win one particular game.

Hillary Clinton's BLEEPing Obama

Following in the footsteps of the hilarious Jimmy Kimmel/Sarah Silverman/Matt Damon/Ben Affleck videos comes this one. Apparently, Hillary wants a piece of Obama--that piece!

Garfield Minus Garfield

This site made me laugh out loud. Turns out the Garfield comic strip is better without Garfield. The site Garfield Minus Garfield is dedicated to the existential, philosophical, and weird world that is Garfield without the cat.

Baby Got Many Backs

Is "Baby Got Back" the most covered song of the past two decades? Check out all the versions, from Gilbert and Sullivan to folkie. The original video is the last in the list below. (And no, that isn't really Kidz Bop rapping--it's a parody.
